For a while the folding bike category seemed to fade away as segments like eCity, eCargo, eUrban attracted more attention from brands and riders. But e-mobility rarely moves in a straight line. Changes in commuting habits, infrastructure, fuel prices, public transport use and more continue to shape which bike categories gain ground.

Despite the supplier's recent production line opening in Poland and its strategic pivot to focus on its retro eSchwalbe moped brand, the company appears unable to sustain itself through 2026.

PARIS, France - This July the French Parliament voted in some new measures to promote more sustainable and active mobility in the country. In what should be a boost to the bicycle sector, French nationals now have access to several financial aids to help them purchase an e-bike.

MUNICH, Germany - In one of its latest Consumer Sector Briefings renowned consultancy firm Deloitte took up the topic of e-bikes. According to Deloitte, "e-bikes in particular are emerging as key drivers of e-mobility. The e-bike certainly benefits from recent trends like health consciousness and the urge of many people to exercise outdoor in connection with COVID-19. This all provided extra tailwind to this sector."
