TAIPEI, Taiwan - This week's Taipei Cycle Show features on Thursday and Friday the Taipei Cycle Forum. This Conference is themed "Keep Pace with the Next Bike Age." DOETINCHEM, the Netherlands - The need for increasing speed to market is so essential for sporting goods supplier Adidas that they founded a dedicated department and built separate factories, all aimed at distributing products to the consumer as quickly as possible. What such 'Speed factories' really entail has recently been revealed in a video by Adidas.

TAIPEI, Taiwan - At the Taipei Cycle show Shuz Tung Machinery presented OTC robot welders for the production of alloy frames for e-bikes as well as sports bicycles. A Shuz Tung TIG welding robot is able to produce 80 frame sets per 8-hour work shift.

Merida to Double E-Bike Production in Taiwan

YUANLIN, Taiwan - Merida is stepping up its e-bike production in Taiwan. Volume wise Taiwan's bicycle industry suffered substantial declines in export last year, including Merida. However, as a member of the former A-Team, Merida holds on to the strategy of investments in added value to expand its business.

Kross Restarts E-Bike Production at Multicycle

ULFT, the Netherlands - Kross S.A. is acting fast after its last week's announcement on the takeover of bankrupted Dutch Multicycle. The Polish bike maker has appointed a Managing Director who is restarting in particular the e-bike production at the Dutch bike maker with 12 of the former 65 employees.

Herrmans Expands Finland Factory

JAKOBSTAD, Finland - Herrmans Oy Ab have completed the first phase of its factory expansion and modernization. The bicycle parts makers plans an increase in production of some 50% in the next five years.

SRAM Stops Remaining Internal Gear Hub Production

SCHWEINFURT, Germany - In a 14 February dated letter to its OEM customers, US component maker SRAM announces a "discontinuation of its internal gear hub (IGH) production". As a result there will be no IGH production for model year 2018. According to SRAM-Europe all larger OEM customers have been informed on this right in time, meaning before the mentioned letter was mailed.

Büchel To Start Production in India with Citizen Joint Venture

CHANDIGARH, India - Ludhiana, India based bicycle component maker Citizen entered into a joint venture with German manufacturer Büchel. "We will start with the production of reflectors and expand this range in the near future with spokes, nipples, alloy rims and plastic mudguards," said Erhard Büchel, CEO of Büchel GmbH & Co.
