GW expands global offering with new wheelset series

Well-known bike component manufacturer GW is set to turn heads at Eurobike 2025. The company unveils a completely new wheelset series tailored for the evolving needs of today's gravel, MTB XC, and road cyclists. From long-distance gravel riders to cross-country racers and competitive road athletes, the expanded portfolio demonstrates the brand's dedication to discipline-specific performance, production flexibility, and global accessibility.

The newly launched lineup from GW includes three distinct series tailored to the key riding disciplines shaping the modern cycling market.

Purpose-built wheelsets for every terrain

“The Carbon gravel wheelset series, developed in strategic collaboration with Marshal Industrial Corp., is engineered for multi-day off-road adventures,” says Charles Lee, chairman of GW. “It balances strength, low weight, and long-term durability in a package optimized for rugged exploration.”

“For MTB riders, we introduce the 32-inch alloy MTB XC wheelset—a rare configuration on the market,” continues Lee. “This model is designed to maximize momentum and grip on technical cross-country racecourses, delivering a responsive, stable ride on varied terrain.”

Then Lee presents the third product: “On the tarmac, our Carbon road wheelset series take performance to the next level with aerodynamic efficiency, high torsional stiffness, and immediate power transfer. Backed by one of the lowest defect rates in the industry among carbon rims, this wheelset establishes a new benchmark in the mid to high-end road segment.”

Complete rim range

Beyond full wheelsets, GW has simultaneously launched a complete line of rims to support both OEM and aftermarket needs. This range spans carbon and alloy options, available in both sleeve-jointed and welded constructions. Each rim is tailored with application-specific profiles, ensuring optimized handling and control across different riding conditions.

“The inclusion of welded rims—a premium feature—further emphasizes our manufacturing versatility and in-house engineering capability,” mentions Lee. “Whether prioritizing production efficiency or elite-level finishing, we offer flexible options to suit brand and performance goals.”

Inside the RCS hub technology

All the new wheelset series are equipped with the company's proprietary Ratchet Cartridge System hubs (RCS). This system features a spring-loaded retention sleeve and dual drive plates within a compact, lightweight housing. “The result is smooth engagement, minimal maintenance, and efficient power transfer, making it a durable and dependable choice for serious cyclists,” adds Lee.

Global reach with local assembly

With assembly facilities in the USA, Italy, Vietnam, and Taiwan, GW is uniquely positioned to support global partners with shorter lead times, localized service, and flexible logistics. In a move to further scale capacity and improve regional responsiveness, mass production of its wheelsets in Vietnam will begin in 2026.
