As the e-bike industry prepares for the impending battery regulatory overhaul in the European Union, readyness and compliance are becoming increasingly important topics. Bike Europe has created a working timeline of key deadlines related to the battery regulations to support companies as they position themselves within the new framework.

EDINBURGH, UK - Intra Drive, the United Kingdom-based e-bike component developer, has secured €600,000 toward an extended €850,000 seed round. The new capital will support the transition from pilot units to commercial production of its GD8 integrated gearbox powertrain. Since displaying at Eurobike in 2021, Intra Drive has focused on building a European supply chain and industrialising its e-bike motor unit with a multi-speed gearbox.

SCHRAMBERG, Germany - The expected weakness in the e-bike segment in the first nine months of 2025 resulted in a 42% drop in revenue at the e-bike component manufacturer. For hGears, even the positive development of e-tools and e-mobility could not offset the slowdown in the e-bike segment, which continued into the third quarter of this year.

Making the product ready for mass production, and subsequently for the market, was a big challenge. Mavic overcame this undertaking and is currently consulting interested OEMs.

E-bike component maker Star Union has introduced its latest mid-drive motor, the MGM (Magnetic Gear Motor). For 2025, the MGM is upgraded to deliver up to 80Nm of torque (up from 75Nm last year) without any increase in size.
